Story Synopsis
Toby and the Stout Gentleman: The "Stout Gentleman" goes on holiday and meets Toby on his old line.
Thomas in Trouble:
A policeman says Thomas cannot run the roadside line without a cowcatcher and sideplates, so Toby arrives.
Dirty Objects:
James disparages Toby for being dirty; soon after he is pushed down a hill by trucks to collide with tar wagons.
Mrs. Kyndley's Christmas:
Near Christmas, Mrs Kyndley saves Thomas from collision with a landslide by waving her dressing gown.
